 Three-story villas with outside staircases (no elevators) house guest suites. Pale marble floors with bronze marble trim, lemon-chiffon walls, and dark wood trim create a contemporary, colonial Mexico ambience. Extra-thick mattresses and bright blue comforters ensure deep slumber. A separate sitting area contains a marble table and two upholstered chairs. Bathrooms include a marble vanity and a large stall shower (no tub). Rooms and suites are offered in the European Plan, which includes room accommodations only. Junior Suite - Each suite offers one king or two double beds and accommodates a maximum of four guests. A balcony or patio providing garden or sea views includes two wrought-iron chairs with bright cushions.

What to expect: Opened in March 2002 and largely time-share, the resort consists of villas spread over steep terrain, creating a peaceful, mountain-village atmosphere suffused with natural beauty. Twenty-four hours a day, golf carts shuttle guests along serpentine paths between the main building, villas, pools, and the beach. Amenity highlights: Terraced on different levels, two free-form pools surrounded by umbrella-festooned decks entice guests down the mountain to just above the beach. Each contains a swim-up bar, with a heated spa nearby. The sprawling main pool includes a children's section and a 40-foot-diameter section containing circular areas with jets for soaking-with-a-view. Ideal for jogging and walking, the golden beach runs on and on, but doesn't offer safe ocean swimming due to strong ocean currents.
