Two-Bedroom Unit - Units measure 1,036 to 1,188 square feet and offer a queen bed in one bedroom, two twin beds in the second bedroom, and a queen sofa bed in the living room. They can accommodate a maximum of six guests.

Standard Unit - Located on the outside of the buildings, these units have lanais facing away from the resort's property.

Superior Garden View Unit - The lanais of these units provide views of the resort's lush gardens graced with ponds, fountains, and waterfalls.

Five Palms Beach Grill - A few minutes' drive from Aston Maui Hill in the Mana Kai Resort, this restaurant consistently earns acclaim for its food and romantic oceanside setting. Brunch is served from 8 AM to 2:30 PM daily on the shaded outside terrace. Linen-service dinner takes place inside under ceiling fans in a plantation-type setting. Both feature local ingredients prepared with award-winning finesse.

Driving directions from Kahului Airport: Head south on SR-37 (Haleakala Hwy), then bear left (south) on SR-380 (Dairy Rd) for just under a mile. Continue southwest on SR-380 (now Kuihelani Hwy). Bear left (south) onto SR-350 (S Puunene Ave). Continue south on SR-350 (Mokulece Hwy), then bear left (east) onto SR-31 (Piilani Hwy). Turn right (west) onto Kilohana Dr, then turn right (north) onto S Kihei Rd. The Kamaole Sands is located at 2659 South Kihei Rd.

Amenity highlights: The largest of three public-park beaches and the only one with off-street parking, Kamaole III, lies just across the street from the resort. Like all beaches in South Maui, it's uncrowded. There's also good snorkeling among rocks and coral. To the delight of snorkeling and scuba-diving enthusiasts, the tiny island of Molokini, renowned for the clarity of its surrounding water, is not far offshore, and excursions are easy to arrange through the resort's activity desk.

Insider tip: Large and beautiful, Keawakapu Beach begins in front of the Mana Kai Resort a few minutes' drive from Kamaole Sands. Next to the Mana Kai is a public parking lot. Signs point the way to the beach, which offers great snorkeling along its rocky northern terminus, terrific boogie boarding when the trade winds blow, and long, tropical-fantasy walks.
