Unusual for a condominium resort, all units are decorated alike at the Aston at the Maui Banyan. Light-colored furniture, white-wicker chairs with colorful cushions, and silk plants provide a suitably Hawaiian ambience. One- and two-bedroom units have full kitchens equipped with cooking and serving ware and washer/dryers. For cooling, these units provide a ceiling fan in the master bedroom and air conditioning in the living room. In two-bedroom units, air conditioning is also installed in the second bedroom.

Driving directions from Kahului Airport: Head south on SR-37 (Haleakala Hwy.), then bear left on SR-380 (Dairy Rd.) for just under a mile. Continue southwest on SR-380 (now Kuihelani Hwy.). Bear left onto SR-350 (S. Puunene Ave.). Continue south on SR-350 (Mokulece Hwy.), then bear left onto SR-31 (Piilani Hwy.). Turn right onto Keonekai Rd., then bear right onto S. Kihei Rd. The Aston at the Maui Banyan is located at 2575 S. Kihei Rd.

Amenity highlights: The largest of three public-park beaches and the only one with off-street parking, Kamaole III, lies a few minutes' drive from the resort. Like all beaches in South Maui, it's uncrowded. There's also good snorkeling among rocks and coral. To the delight of snorkeling and scuba-diving enthusiasts, the tiny island of Molokini, renowned for the clarity of its surrounding water, is not far offshore, and excursions are easy to arrange through the resort's activities desk.
